As the busy semester came to an end, Juan was excited to start working in the lab for the summer. This is his first time working in the lab ever! As his journey continues this summer working with Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM), Juan has learned the ups and downs of research. Different set-ups have been explored to improve the outcomes of his experiments, and alternative set-ups are still being explored! In light of being his first time working in the lab, he has kept himself busy and even has a side experiment: 7 Day Mineralization with QCM. Juan looks forward to what the rest of the summer has in store for...

Congrats to Hailey on her amazing presentation at the Northeast Regional Meeting of the ACS (NERM) in Boston this week. Her talk on “DNA origami nanostructures as biomimetic scaffolds for calcium phosphate mineralization” was really well done and was well received. The team was there to cheer her on and there was even an chemistry alum...

As the summer starts, Donalissa looks forward to what research has to offer. It is so refreshing to work in the lab alongside her GRAB lab team members. As she continues to work with gold nanoparticles, she has found methods to efficiently attach single stranded DNA in only 1 day! After some minor set-backs, Donalissa has progressed and grown more confident in the lab. She has definitely learned something from her nanoparticles and now understands that you should just have fun a take research one day at a...

After a long and hard semester, Kristy is excited to spend more time in lab running experiments! Adding new lab techniques under her belt one by one! Most recently synthesizing gold nanoparticles as a part of her side project to later be used in future projects. She has been familiarizing herself with different instruments to understand their use and how it can help us in analysis. Carefully wrapping up some collagen experiments for the collagen paper, she is excited to brainstorm and start more projects! She also can’t wait to share more GRAB Lab memories both in and outside of...

Hailey is excited to be back in Boston again for a second time doing summer research! Now that the spring semester is finished, she can finally relax and focus on research instead of coursework. She’s started work on a new six-helix bundle DNA origami structure that will continue throughout the summer, and has lots of experiments planned. In June, she’ll also be attending the 2023 Northeastern Regional Meeting of ACS in June and presenting her research, which she is really looking forward to! Outside of research, she plans to take the time to explore Boston, take more walks on the Muddy River, and enjoy the warm weather! This is her final summer doing research with the GRAB Lab, and she is going to make the most of...
