Senior year is flying by, but Moji is keeping up with her research. She is continuing her investigation of the origin of fluorescence in polymeric carbon dots. Building on her summer findings, she is now approaching the next step in the purification method. Instead of dialysis, Moji is using spin filters to separate all of her three pH samples. It is a faster and more controlled method that allows her to isolate molecules by size more precisely. She is excited to compare what comes through the filter versus what left inside and to characterize both fractions using new absorbance/ fluorescence instruments this semester. Moji is excited to see where this next chapter of the project leads with a companion that keeps a close eye on her progress.
